Brianne Barker-Groth

Starting her high school coaching career, Brianne was the assistant volleyball coach at Lovejoy High School, which in her two seasons with them, won a Texas 5A State Championship, and were the runners up the second year. Brianne then took the head coaching job at Colleyville Heritage High School in 2016 where she took a team with a losing record the previous year, and coached them to a 33-8 record. After two season at Colleyville Heritage, Groth then took the head coaching job at Byron Nelson High School, where she currently resides. In 2019, Groth coached her team to the 6A State Championship where they went 50-2 with 3 high school all-americans. In the 5 years at Byron Nelson, she amassed a 166-34 record for a total coaching record of 241-51.

Brianne Barker-Groth’s love of the game started back in Amarillo as a youngster, as she was a very well known high school player in Texas. She was chosen as the Texas Player of the Decade (2000-2009), a 2 time Gatorade Texas Player of the Year, an AVCA High School 1st Team all-American, and led her high school team to two straight 6A State Championships while being named the Texas High School Player of the Year and UIL 6A Tournament MVP both years. She played college ball at the University of Oklahoma, where she was a 4 year starting setter, four-time All Big 12 team member, and two-time 3rd team All-American. She led her team to the Round of 16 in 2010 where they lost to the eventual national champions, Penn State. Brianne also was involved with USA volleyball's National training program and won a National Open Championship as well as made the national all tournament team. She then went on to play professionally in Puerto Rico for Bayamon, San Juan.

Brianne’s success is based on her in depth knowledge of the game, having played as a setter in college and professionally, her ability to be a positive coach in teaching young players the game and encouraging them along the way, and her ability to work with parents and admin in a very professional manner. Her love for the game goes very deep, and she is excited that she can give back to the game that she fell in love with. Brianne is married to her college sweetheart, Bryan, has a 6 year old, Hayes, and just welcomed their second child in December, Baker.
